LAHORE:The 41st HEC inter-university women athletics championship, hosted by Punjab University, has begun at Wapda Sports Complex here on Sunday. As many as 17 teams from all over Pakistan are participating in the event. In the inaugural ceremony xx1toto, PU Director Sports Dr Zafar Iqbal Butt, deputy directors sports Mr Zubair Butt and Ms Tahira, officials, managers and a large number of players participated in the event. On the first day, competitions of 100 meters, 400 meters, 1,500 meters and 5,000 meters races, shot put, long jump and 100 meter relay race were held in which athletes showed outstanding performance. In one hundred meter race, Ms Shafaq Afreen from Iqra University Karachi won first position and was declared fastest athlete of the event. PU’s Turab Zohra stood second while Government College University Faisalabad’s Nadia took third position. In 100 meters relay race, Punjab University clinched first position.
