LAHORE: Punjab University has clinched team trophy in HEC’s 41st Inter University Women Athletic Championship by securing 265 points. The event was hosted by PU Department of Sports at Wapda Sports Complex. PU Vice Chancellor Prof Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir, Director Institute of Education and Research Prof Dr Rifaqat Ali Akbar, Director Sports Dr Zafar Iqbal Butt, sports officials and a large number of players participated in prize distribution ceremont. University of Sargodha stood 2nd by securing 150 marks while Lahore College for Women’s University took third position with 126 points. PU’s Saba Yousaf was declared best athelete of the event who obtained 3 gold medals and one silver medal. Saba Yousaf has obtained 55 points, University of Sargodha’s Beenish Munir grabbed 52 points while Lahore College for Women University’s Ghazala obtained 48 points in the competitions. Addressing the ceremony, Dr Zafar Moeen Nasir said that wining and losing was an important part of life. He advised them to create sportsman spirit among themselves because this spirit would bring them forward. He urged the students to bring country’s name to limelight and promote positive image of Pakistan through sports. Later, prize were distributed among the payers.
