KARACHI: Sindh Chief Minister Syed Murad Ali Shah has approved the purchase of armoured bulletproof vehicles for players for the proposed Pakistan Super League (PSL) third edition final in the provincial capital.
Murad Ali Shah met with Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Najam Sethi and other board officials on Friday, along with political and security leadership of the province to discuss arrangements for the PSL final in Karachi.
“During the meeting, the CM ordered the relevant authorities to purchase bulletproof buses for the players during their stay in Karachi for the match,” a spokesman of the chief minister told Geo.tv.
During the meeting, CM Murad reiterated his commitment to ensure best possible security for the PSL 3 final.
“The people of Karachi want to witness international cricket at home, and we will do our best to ensure that,” CM Murad said in the meeting.
It was also decided in the meeting that a full-dress rehearsal of the security arrangements will be conducted within 30 days.
PCB chairman informed the meeting about the players’ views on visiting Karachi for playing the final.
The meeting was also attended by Deputy DG Rangers, IG Sindh, Home Secretary among other officials.
The PCB has already announced to hold the PSL 3 final in Karachi on March 25, 2018.
