LAHORE: Punjab govt under the leadership of Chief Minister Shahbaz Sharif is making appropriate efforts to provide top level sports facilities in south region of the province. 12 new sports projects with the cost of Rs 50 crore have been launched in DG Khan Division; Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan said this while addressing a meeting at DG Khan Commissioner Office on Friday.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan said: “Timely completion of sports projects in south Punjab is our top priority. No complacency will be tolerated in this regard,” he stressed.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan formed a committee to review the progress of construction work at sports projects in this part of the province. “Dozens of sports projects have been completed while several are near completion. The 12 new sports projects have been started under the supervision of Project Management Unit (PMU)”.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan further said that modern instruments have been provided to DG Khan sports gymnasium. “25 astro-turfs are being laid across the province including DG Khan. We will also hold U-16 Inter-District sports competitions this year,” he added.
Prior to the meeting proceedings, the contractors and officials concerned gave him a detailed briefing about the construction work at various under-construction sports facilities in the region.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan also checked the construction work in DG Khan Divisional Sports Complex, gymnasium, cricket ground, E-Library and hostel.
DOS DG Khan Ghulam Murtaza, DSO Layyah Saifur Rehman, DSO Muzaffargarh Jamil Kamran, PMU officers and contractors were also present during the visit.
Secretary Sports Punjab Aamir Jan observed the quality of work at various parts of DG Khan Sports Gymnasium. He directed the relevant contractors to complete the remaining work on sports venues as early as possible.
