LAHORE: “Punjab govt will carve out an effective system to run the dozens of top standard sports facilities across the Punjab province. We will introduce such a useful structure to function the valuable gymnasiums and playfields so that talented youth of the province can take maximum benefit out of these facilities; these views were expressed by Punjab Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada while addressing an important meeting at National Hockey Stadium on Tuesday.
The main agenda of the meeting was to discuss the formation of sustainable management and financial models for the newly-build sports facilities across the province.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan, former PHF President Olympian Akhtar Rasool, former cricket captain Intikhab Alam, Director Admin Javed Rasheed Chohan, Director Project Management Unit Akram Soban, former LCCA President Kh Nadeem, Olympian Tauqeer Dar and other top officials also attended the meeting.
Addressing the meeting, which was attended by notable sports figures of the country, Punjab Minister for Sports Jahangir Khanzada said Punjab govt as per the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif, will take every possible measure for the promotion of sports in the province. “Punjab govt builds several sports gymnasiums, floodlit cricket and hockey grounds in all parts of province and we will run these sports facilities through professional people,” he added.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan, in his address, said: “Our main objective is to provide best sports facilities to potential youngsters of the province. State of the Art Punjab International Swimming Pool is the latest example in this regard. Punjab International Swimming Pool is first of its kind in Pakistan and also considered among the best swimming pools of Asia,” he informed.
Secretary Sports Punjab Muhammad Aamir Jan further said Punjab govt has initiated several sports projects in south Punjab in recent past. “Various sports projects have already been completed and many are on verge of completion”.
