AMIR KHAN roared back onto the boxing scene with an emphatic 39-second destruction of loudmouth Phil Lo Greco.
The Bolton hero had been goaded and insulted in the build-up to his long-awaited return to the fight game and he shut his opponent up with a ferocious first-round demolition.
A sweet left hook and a giant uppercut floored Lo Greco just moments after the opening bell.
And a savage attack – with the so-called Italian Sensation pinned helplessly on the ropes – got the fight stopped.
And he clearly did not want to hang around as his new student proved himself to still be top of the class.
Despite being away from the ring for two years Khan sold out the 9,000-seater Echo Arena with the help of a largely-local undercard.
It had been five years since he had boxed on home soil, after cracking America with swashbuckling displays, but fans are still interested in what he has to offer.
Lo Greco, 33, was signed up to this fight to help sell tickets and make Khan look good after such a long break.
The Canadian insulted Khan over his once-chaotic private life, at the first press conference, and got a glass of water in the face for his trouble.
