KARACHI: wicket-keeper batsman Adnan Baig played a pivotal role in guiding Shalimar CC to a six-wicket victory against Arsalan Iqbal CC and reached the Quarter-final in their first Gobi’s Paint T20 Ramazan Cricket Tournament fixture here on Sunday.
Adnan, who was later declared man-of-the-match in the last Group match at the Behria College Ground , first excelled with hehind the wicket by claiming four caches as a wicket-keeper before top-scoring with an 31-ball blazing knock of half century 59 featuring six boundaries and three sixes.
After won the toss and batting first, Arsalan Iqbal CC.were 154 all- out in 19.3 overs. Afroz Hassan was chief run-getter with brilliant half century 54, in a 21-ball innings laced with Six fours and three sixes and Pervaiz scored 47 off 38 balls with five fours and as six, Hussain Hassan contributed 31 off 32 balls with four fours.
slow left-armer Rao Khyam Abbas and Pacer Hasnan Raza picked up three wickets each for 27 and 30 runs. Adnan Baig took two caches and two stumped hehind the wicket.
Shalimar CC, in reply, reached their target by making 155-4 in17.3 overs. Adnan Baig scored a dazzling half century 59 off 31 balls with six fours and three sixes while Zaman Attari also batted well to score 35 off 25 balls with five boundaries and a six, Rao Khayam made 21 runs not out.
Off-spinner Muhammad Salman Junior snared two wickets for 25 runs but heroics were unable to prevent Shalimar CC from winning.
