Rainy weather forces Pakistan cricketers to practice indoors

BIRMINGHAM: Rainy weather in England has forced Pakistan once again to have its practice session indoors, this time at Birmingham, ahead of their key World Cup game against New Zealand.

It was raining in Birmingham since the morning on Tuesday, which disallowed the Pakistani cricketers from having a full-fledged training session ahead of the must-win game in the tournament.

The team carried out indoor practice with players restricted to some knocking and a little fielding practice due to limited space in the indoor areas.

Fast bowlers were seen bowling with short run-ups while batsmen did not have enough space inside to practice proper hitting.

Wicket keeper and captain Sarfaraz Ahmed was seen practicing to get perfection on the edges while other players worked to improve catching at slip position.

It was an optional session for the Pakistan team, which arrived in Birmingham on Monday after beating South Africa on Sunday at the Lord’s cricket ground.

Pakistan will take on New Zealand at the Edgbaston cricket ground in an important World Cup match on Wednesday.

A win will keep Pakistan’s hopes alive, while defeat would still not rule them out of contention and the team would be depending much on the results of England team’s match against Australia today.
