In an attempt to test and boost the knowledge of local athletes regarding Pakistan’s sporting history, the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) has staged a digital quiz for the participants of the ongoing National Games in Peshawar.
The quiz, the first-ever in the history of National Games, is aimed at raising the athletes’ awareness about their well-being and also about the respective history of Olympics.
“The Pakistan Olympic Association team has arranged a two-day digital quiz at Qayyum Stadium under the Athletes Awareness Campaign,” said Ada Jaffery, POA Manager Education and Awareness.
“Questions regarding the themes of Olympic history, national heroes, safe sports, sustainable communities and promotion of local culture and heritage will be asked, with winners to be awarded souvenirs.”
Jaffery said that questions will be asked in four different languages to involve more athletes in the programme.
“We will have them in English, Urdu, Punjabi and Pashtun languages as athletes from all over the country are participating,” she said.
“Such activities are pretty normal at all major international competitions where various countries participate. Such competitions tell the athletes about the activities they’re involved in,” she said.
Over 10,000 athletes from different parts of the country are participating in the National Games across 32 men’s and 27 women’s competitions.
