LAHORE : Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti has congratulated Pakistan athletes for clinching 16 medals including four gold medals in 13th South Asian Games being organized in Nepal. Overall, Pakistan players have so far won four gold, five silver and seven bronze medals in the grand event.
In a congratulatory message on Tuesday, Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti praised the extraordinary performance of Pakistan’s gold medal winners – Saadi Abbas (gold in 75kg karate event), Pak shooters (in 50m Rifle Team event), Shahida (individual kata) and M Awais (-85kg karate event).
Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti also appreciated other silver and bronze medal winners in volleyball, karate, shooting, badminton and taekwondo events such as silver in volleyball team event, Niamatullah (silver in individual kata), women karate team – Shahida, Nargis and Gulnaz (silver in team kata), Baz Mohammad (silver in 84kg), men’s team Naseer Ahmed, Nouman Ahmed and Naimatullah (bronze in team kata), Murad Khan (bronze in 55kg), Iqra Anwar (bronze in 45 kg) and Sabira Gul (bronze in 50 kg), Pak men and women badminton teams (bronze medals in team event), Pak taekwondo players Mahrunnisa and Shehbaz Ahmed (silver in pair poomsae), Mehrunnisa (bronze in individual poomsae), Pak team poomsae Shehbaz, Mumtaz and Mohammad Anas (bronze in team poomsae), Mehrunnisa, Iqra and Asifa (bronze in team event) and Mumtaz and Asifa (bronze in pair).
Punjab Minister for Sports, Youth Affairs and Tourism Rai Taimoor Khan Bhatti said Pakistan athletes made the entire nation proud by winning medals in South Asian Games. He expressed his hope that Pakistan contingent will win more medals in the remaining events of 13th South Asian Games.
