Indian Premier League (IPL) is considered among top sports events Worldwide

It now appears the downfall in Indian economy will also hit IPL

The situation is so serious that Indian Cricket Board has no money to organize the IPL 2020 opening ceremony

Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 will kickoff without an opening ceremony

According to a statement by Indian Cricket Board the prize money in IPL has also been reduced to one half

Last year IPL winner team got 20 crore Indian Rupees as prize money

This time IPL winner team will earn 10 crore Indian Rupees

In IPL 2019 the runner-up team got 12.5 crore Indian Rupees

In IPL 2020 the runner-up team will get 6.25 crore Indian Rupees

In 2019 teams at 3rd and 4th positions earned 8.75 crore Indian Rupees each

This time teams at 3rd and 4th positions will get 4.375 crore Indian Rupees each

It is interesting that on one hand Indian Cricket Board has decided to save the money …

… spent on opening ceremony and has also reduced the prize money to one half …

… on the other hand financial pressure on IPL franchises has been raised

Earlier IPL franchises had to pay 30 lakh Indian Rupees to local cricket associations for each match

Now there is a raise of 20 lakh Indian Rupees for every match

In IPL 2020 franchises will have to pay 50 lakh rupees for every match to local cricket associations

IPL 2020 will start on 29th March

In opening match defending champions Mumbai Indians will face Chennai Super Kings

Opening match of IPL 2020 will be played at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai

The match is scheduled to start at 8.00pm Indian Time

8 teams are appearing in IPL 2020

IPL 2020 will feature a total of 60 matches

Final of the league will be played on 24th May at Wankhede Stadium Mumbai

Worsening situation in India is not only a depiction of poor policies …

… of the Indian rulers but also a decline to Indian mega event IPL
