Lahore:Lahore Qalandars’ Samit Patel recorded his best bowling figures in T20 cricket against Quetta Gladiators to help his side to their second win of the HBL PSL 2020 at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium on Saturday.
The left-arm orthodox returned four for five in four overs, which also included a maiden, in Qalandars’ eight-wicket win.
Patel’s all four wickets came inside the Powerplay as Gladiators reeled at 21 for six by the end of the sixth over.
Gladiators managed 98 for nine in 20 overs and that their bowlers had something to bowl at was due to Sohail Khan’s 35-ball 32. He hit two sixes and two fours and crafted a 34-run partnership with Zahid Mehmood, who made run-a-ball 19.
Qalandars’ chased down the target with 49 balls spare with Mohammad Hafeez (39 off 32) and Ben Dunk (30 off 21) taking them over the line.
Their innings got impetus in the second over as Fakhar Zaman (20 off 13) smashed Mohammad Hasnain for three fours and a six.
Mohammad Nawaz was the only bowler to take wickets in the run-chase as the left-arm orthodox accounted for the wickets of Fakhar and Sohail Akhtar (five off five).
For his match-winning effort, Patel was named man of the match.
On Super Sunday, the much-anticipated contest of the season – Lahore Qalandars v Karachi Kings – will be held at Lahore’s Gaddafi Stadium at 7pm.
Earlier in the afternoon (2pm), Islamabad United will host Multan Sultans at the Pindi Cricket Ground.
