Islamabad:The Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) has decided to change the existing sports policy of the country. In the light of the 18th amendment, a committee has been constituted to review the existing sports policy and make recommendations for its change.
A spokesperson of Pakistan Sports Board said that the meeting of the Executive Committee of PSB was held in Islamabad under the chairmanship of Federal Minister for Inter-Provincial Liaison Faheema Mirza in which the current sports policy was discussed and a committee was constituted to review the policy. Which will make recommendations on policy changes in the context of the 18th Amendment and submit them to the PSB within a month.
The committee will be headed by Secretary Inter-Provincial Coordination Muhammad Ali Shehzada, while other members will include the Higher Education Commission, Pakistan Tennis Federation, a former athlete and legal adviser to the PSB.
It may be recalled that after the 18th amendment, sports matters were handed over to the provincial governments. However, there was disagreement between the PSB and the provincial sports departments over the distribution of prize money among the athletes who won medals in international events.
