Lahore:The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has appointed Younis Khan, Pakistan’s most successful batsman in the history of Test cricket and former captain, as the national team’s batting coach for the tour of England.
Apart from Younis Khan, the PCB has appointed former league spinner Mushtaq Ahmed, who has played in 52 Tests for Pakistan, as the national cricket team’s spin bowling coach and mentor for the tour of England.
The three-Test series and three T20 Internationals will be played in August-September, but the final decision on the series remains to be seen.
Younis Khan scored 10,099 runs in 118 matches in his Test career from 2000 to 2017 at an average of over 52. The 313-run innings against Sri Lanka in Karachi was the best innings of his career which helped him in the rankings. Got first position.
Younis Khan’s record against England in particular is impressive. In 16 innings of 9 Test matches played in England, Younis Khan scored 810 runs at an average of over 50, during which time he scored 2 centuries (218 in the Oval 2016). And Headingley in 2006 (173 innings) and 3 half-centuries.
Younis Khan, who has taken 139 catches in his Test career, is the best fielder in the history of Pakistan and that is why he is ranked 13th in the list of other fielders in the world.
Younis Khan also represented Yorkshire in the 2007 English County Championships where he scored 824 runs at an average of over 48 in 13 matches.
Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chief Executive Wasim Khan said, “I am happy that a cricketer like Younis Khan with a strong and excellent batting record has agreed to work with Pakistan Cricket for this important tour.”
Wasim Khan said that when he approached Younis Khan in this regard, his enthusiasm and passion to serve the country through this post was visible.
