Dubai:The International Cricket Council (ICC) has announced that it will wait another month before making a final decision on the T20 World Cup, during which the situation and various aspects will be taken into consideration while an investigation into privacy breaches is underway. It has also been decided to include all board members and council management.

The ICC Board meeting was held via video conference to consider a number of issues, including the World Twenty20.

The board members agreed to monitor the situation for another month at this year’s World Twenty20 in Australia and next year’s ICC Women’s World Cup in New Zealand.

According to an ICC spokesperson, work will continue on the schedule of the event for the time being, while various alternative plans will be considered within a month and hygiene will be decided before the tournament is decided or postponed. The affairs of the host country, the safety of the players and the interest of the fans will also be taken into consideration.

The spokesperson said that in view of the changing situation around the world due to the corona virus, the ICC is in touch with various governments and other partners to ensure that cricket events are held while safeguarding the health of everyone.

The meeting also discussed the issue of breach of confidentiality in ICC matters, which led to the postponement of the May 28 meeting and the expansion of the scope of inquiry into the matter. ICC management has also been included, after which the ethics officer can question the head of each board.

Ehsan Mani, head of the PCB and chairman of the ICC Finance Committee, and Indira Novi, independent director, will assist the ethics officer in this process.

On the other hand, the ICC has extended the deadline of the Indian Board for resolving tax issues till December 2020.

The deadly corona virus has affected economic, commercial and sporting activities around the world, while several major mega-events have been postponed, including the Tokyo Olympics.
