LAHORE: Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) Chairman Ehsan Mani has said that it is difficult to hold the ICC T20 World Cup this year.
The ICC is not looking at events this year due to the corona virus, but the absence of events will not cause any financial loss.
Pakistan Cricket Board Chairman Ehsan Mani answered media questions on the video link.
Ehsan Mani said that although the situation regarding corona virus is improving in Australia and New Zealand at the moment but both the boards are very careful in this regard, I do not think that there will be any ICC event in 2020.
He said that ICC has held three or four teleconferences in a month. A meeting is also being held next week, in which all matters will be looked into.
There are a lot of stakeholders in a big event, more countries participate, so even if two or three victims come forward, the situation will be upsetting for everyone, so I find the events difficult.
Chairman PCB Ehsan Mani said that PSL matches were also postponed due to Corona virus. If the situation improves, we will have to decide on PSL by December as there will be no time after that. The situation is expected to get worse, so we can’t guarantee that the domestic cricket season will start on time. It seems like it will be delayed. Unfortunately, it is not under our control. Cannot compromise the health of any player or stakeholder.
Referring to the Asia Cup, Ehsan Mani said that it is very important to have the Asia Cup because of the developing Asian countries, that is why there was talk of holding the Asia Cup in Sri Lanka and Pakistan will host it in the near future. In Sri Lanka, the situation regarding corona virus is improving.
