London:Former England women’s cricket captain Claire Connor has been named the first female president of the historic Marylebone Cricket Club (MCC).
According to a report by the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC), Claire Connor, Managing Director of England and Wales Cricket Board Women’s Cricket, will take up her new post on October 1, 2021.
Claire Connor will replace former Sri Lankan great batsman and captain Kumar Sangakkara in the MCC, who has been offered the presidency for a second term.
“It’s an honor to be nominated as the next president of the MCC,” said Claire Connor.
“Cricket has already filled my life and now I am getting great respect,” she said.
