Lahore:The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has refused to lift the ban on former Pakistan cricket captain Saleem Malik and former league spinner Danish Kaneria.
Both the players, who have been banned for life on fixing charges, had requested the PCB to lift the ban, to which the PCB has given a clear answer.
Referring to Saleem Malik, the PCB said that it had sent him a questionnaire from the International Cricket Council (ICC) but he did not respond.
The PCB says that Saleem Malik has also confessed to the crime in a letter addressed to the chairman of the PCB in May 2014.
According to a copy of Saleem Malik’s confessional letter, Saleem Malik had admitted his wrongdoing in a letter to then PCB chairman Najam Sethi on May 5, 2014 and said that he apologized to his fans for his wrongdoing. ۔
On the other hand, the PCB has advised former league spinner Danish Kaneria to contact the English Cricket Board (ECB) as he has also been banned by the ECB.
The PCB says it is abiding by ICC protocol, Danish Kaneria cannot be given a rehab program, he is banned for life.
It may be recalled that Danish Kaneria was banned for life by the English Cricket Board in 2012 for inciting a cricketer Westfield to fix match during county cricket.
In October 2018, six years after his conviction, Danish Kaneria had admitted his guilt and said that one cannot live with lies.
