The General Assembly of Pakistan Council of Traditional Sports and Games (PCTSG) met yesterday under the Chairmanship of Senator Mohammad Ali Saif and attended by all the stake holders including provincial units and different ministries from the Federal and Provincial Governments including Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Ministry of Culture.
The house unanimously approved the Election of the President PCTSG and Press Secretary which positions got empty having other officials’ assignments by the outgoing office bearers. Senator Mohammad Ali Saif was unanimously elected as New President by replacing Federal Minister of Education Mr. Shafqat Mahmood and Mr. Tariq Ali elected as Press Secretary for the term of 4 years by GA names were already approved by the Executive Board which met a day earlier to decide some core issues related to the promotion of traditional sports and games (TSG) in Pakistan.
Mr. Khalil Ahmed Khan President of the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG) and all other participants congratulated the new President on his coveted selection to lead the TSG initiative in Pakistan.
Mr. Khalil Ahmed Khan President ICTSG further suggested that Barrister Saif Ali Khan be extended all out support to steer the initiative and further reiterated that new President be empowered with full authority to select and nominate any new member at his sole discretion who can be deliver for the betterment of TSG initiatives in Pakistan.
The house also endorsed and approved the proposal of Baluchistan to host the first Gwadar International Traditional Sports Festival in 2021 which event will be considered as a test event for the upcoming World Traditional Games 2022 in case the bid of Pakistan be approved by the International Council for Traditional Sports and Games (ICTSG). The Government of Baluchistan through its sports department is quite keen to host such international events amid promoting CPEC around the world through sports.
The Sports Ministry will submit the document related to the Expression of Interest to the International Council of Traditional Sports and Games after having high level meeting under the chairmanship of Chief Minister Baluchistan Mr. Jam Kamal Khan after the Eid Holidays.
The participants also agreed to hold a series of seminars to gather local and international stakeholders and document the Pakistani traditional sports with the help and cooperation of Ministry of Culture as well as by the support of provincial sports boards.
