KARACHI: In a tight opening game of the Sindh Sports Board-SJAS inter-media T20 cup, Geo News beat SJAS-Reds by three runs on the last ball of the match.
SJAS-Reds were given 153 runs to win by Geo Sports News after winning the toss at the Eastern star cricket ground here on Monday.
Opener Zohaib Hasan played a fluent knock of 71 off 53 balls to provide GEO News with a solid foundation. Hammad Ahmed’s unbeaten 36 was the other notable contribution. GEO accumulated 153/6 in the allotted 20 overs.
In reply Shahid Ansari and Mujahid Solangi laid a solid 57-run stand for SJAS-Reds, however Shahid Ansari’s dismissal on 47 off 31 proved detrimental for the Reds which fell three runs shot off the target (150/9) on the last delivery of the match.
Zohaib Hasan bagged two wickets for 19 runs and was awarded man of the match for his allround performance.
Earlier former member of the PCB Board of Governors, Professor Ejaz Ahmed Farooqi inaugurated the SSN-SJAS inter-media T20 Cup by stroking the ball. He was also introduced to players of both contesting teams.
Ejaz Farooqi, on the occasion, lauded Sports Journalists Association of Sindh for organising a healthy activity amongst media houses.
Former Joint secretary, KCCA Jamil Ahmed, deputy director sports, KMC Nadeem Khan and director media, PDCA Muhammad Nizam were also present on the occasion.
