A delegation of Islamabad and Gilgit-Baltistan Baseball Associations led by Tahir Mahmood President Islamabad Baseball Association meet Member National Assembly / Special Assistant Prime Minister for CDA Affairs Mr. Ali Nawaz Awan. In the meeting, Tahir Mehmood briefed Ali Nawaz Awan on the efforts being made for the development and promotion of baseball. Gilgit-Baltistan Baseball Association coordinators Shah Rukh Khan and Rouhllah were also present on the occasion.
Tahir Mehmood while talking said that baseball game is gaining a lot of popularity in Pakistan. Pakistan is ranked 5th in Asia and 27th in the world. The Pakistan Federation Baseball held baseball exhibition matches in Skardu and Gilgit, Pakistan’s highest points, in September-October. In July 2021, the federation will host exhibition matches of baseball at Shandur and Deosai, the highest place in the world. After hosting the matches at this venue, the Pakistan Federation Baseball will set a record for the highest baseball ground in the world.
Tahir Mehmood added that baseball has also been included in inter-board sports. In which all the education boards of Pakistan participate and now Baseball will also start at school and college level, which will provide young players for Pakistan’s youth, women’s and senior baseball teams.
Ali Nawaz Awan expressed happiness over the fact that Pakistan Federation Baseball is doing a very good job. He also congratulated the federation for organizing matches in Gilgit-Baltistan and for including baseball in inter-board sports. He said that it is a matter of pride for us that Pakistan is ranked 5th in Asia and 27th in the world. While holding baseball matches in Shandur and Deosai, the name of Pakistan baseball will also be included in the Guinness Book of World Records.
He added that this is also the vision of Prime Minister Imran Khan to work for the development of the youth and provide them a suitable platform to showcase their talents.
Ali Usman and Rameez Aziz reprimanded
Karachi: Southern Punjab’s Ali Usman and Sindh’s Rameez Aziz have received warnings for breaching the PCB Code of Conduct for Players and Players Support Personnel during a ninth round fixture of the three-day non first-class Quaid-e-Azam Trophy at the KCCA Stadium on Monday.
The pair was found to have violated Article 2.20 of the PCB Code of Conduct, which reads as: “Contrary to the spirit of the game”.
The incident happened at the end of the 55th over of Sindh’s first innings when the two exchanged words in an aggressive manner, which led to intervention from the on-field umpires and the fielding side captain to ensure the situation remained under control.
Both Ali and Rameez pleaded guilty to the charges and accepted the sanctions proposed by match referee Ahmer Saeed. The charges were levelled by on-field umpires Ghulam Sarwar and Mir Dad.
All first offences in Level 1 breaches carry a minimum penalty of an official warning and/or imposition of a fine of up to 70 per cent of the applicable match fee.
Sindh defeated Southern Punjab by five wickets.
Karachi won 7 gold and 2 silver medals in Sindh Sports Board Inter Division Ranking Boxing Championship. Shaheed Benazirabad got second position with 2 gold and 3 silver medals while Mirpurkhas got third with 1 gold and 2 silver medals.
