Karachi wins 7 gold and 2 silver medals in Sindh Sports Board Inter Division Ranking Boxing Championship

The two-day championship was played at Ali Muhammad Qambrani Boxing Stadium Lyari under the auspices of Sindh Boxing Association in collaboration with Sindh Sports Board.

In the finals, Zeb Rashid defeated Talha by 3-0 in the 49kg weight class, Majid Ali defeated Khalid Khan by 2-1 in the 52kg category and Asim Khan defeated Wasif by 3-0 in the 56kg weight class, in 60 kg Owais defeated Sharif Khan by three, in 64 kg Najad Ali defeated Haider Ali by 3-0, in 69 kg Umar Khan defeated Shaheen Shah by 3-0 and in 75 kg Shahzeb defeated Hameed by 2-1.

In 81 kg category Ilyas defeated Qanbar Ali with 3-0, in 91 kg Qaisar Qalandar defeated Noor Ali by 3-0 and in 91 kg Yasir Jamil defeated Imran Ali by 3-0 to win the gold medal.

Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Ali Sodhar, the special guest of the championship’s final, distributed prizes among the players and officials.

Addressing the awards ceremony, Deputy Commissioner South Irshad Ali Sodhar said that Karachiites are peace loving and sports loving.

He said that hosting the inter-divisional boxing championship would not only help in highlighting the positive aspects of the city of Karachi but also promote the sport of boxing in the province. Events of this nature will discover new talent and give young players plenty of opportunities to showcase their talents.

He said that at the provincial level, an atmosphere of healthy competition among athletes, mutual harmony and an atmosphere of brotherhood have also increased.

Irshad Ali Sodhar further said that winning and losing is part of the game but I would definitely like to ask the players to show perfect discipline on and off the field and show all their abilities while working hard. Many players who participated in this championship can be part of Pakistan’s national boxing team in the future.

Later, special guest Irshad Ali Sodhar distributed trophies, medals and certificates among the players of the successful teams.

Olympian Malang Baloch, International Boxers Azeem Jan, Rashid Baloch, Secretary Sindh Olympic Association Ahmed Ali Rajput, Vice Chairman Asif Azeem, President Sindh Boxing Association Asghar Baloch, Vice President Abid Brohi, President KBBA Ghulam Muhammad Khan, Karachi South Boxing Secretary Abdul Razzaq and other sports personalities were also present on the occasion.

Fida Hussain, Sher Mohammad, Salahuddin, Mohammad Farooq, Ashiq Ali and Murad Bakhsh were the referee judges while the chief jury was Mohammad Younis Pathan.
