In the first match of the two-Test series between Pakistan and New Zealand, New Zealand has scored 222 runs for the loss of three wickets on the first day.
In the Test being played at Mount Monga Noi, Pakistan captain Muhammad Rizwan won the toss and elected to field first.
Kiwi captain Ken Williamson said that if we had won the toss, we would have decided to bat first.
Tom Latham and Tom Blundell started the innings for New Zealand but Shaheen Shah Afridi sent both the players to the pavilion for 13 runs.
After two early dismissals, Ken Williamson and Ross Taylor froze on the wicket and a partnership of more than 100 runs was formed between the two players.
Shaheen Shah Afridi also made Ross Taylor his victim for 133 runs. Ross Taylor was dismissed for 70 runs and his innings included 10 fours and a six.
After Rose Taylor’s dismissal, Kiwi captains Ken Williamson and Henry Nichols batted responsibly and scored 222 not out by the end of the game.
At the end of the first day’s play, Ken Williamson was on 94 and Henry Nichols was on 42.
