The players draft of the sixth edition of Pakistan Super League will be held on January 10 for which the PSL management has sent a list of more than 400 players to the franchises but most of the foreign players are not fully available due to their duties with their national teams. Forcing teams to think harder to make combinations.

The sixth edition of the PSL is to be played between February 20 and March 22 and during this time almost every team will be engaged in the international series due to which several top players will not be available for the entire PSL.

Series that conflict with PSL dates include the Test series in South Africa and Australia, the tour of England to India, the tour of Bangladesh to New Zealand, the tour of Sri Lanka to the West Indies and the series against Zimbabwe in Afghanistan.

According to sources, most of the Platinum category players released by the PCB will not be available for all league matches or their availability will be subject to the team series and their inclusion in the teams.

In such a situation it is likely that the teams will rely more on the available resources and retention, each team can retain a total of 8 players.

In such a scenario, Dale Steyn, Riley Russo, Imran Tahir, Alex Hales, David Miller, Morne Morkel, Chris Gayle, Colin Ingram, Chris Lane, Carlos Braithwaite, Sandeep Lami Chani are the platinum players who complete the teams during the PSL.

The availability of Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi, and Mujeeb-ur-Rehman is conditional on a series between Zimbabwe and Afghanistan, scheduled for February.

England’s David Milan and Moin Ali will be partially available from India due to the scheduled series, while the full availability of Adana and Thisara Perera due to the series between Sri Lanka and the West Indies is in question. Bravo is also in the same series.

South Africa are due to play a Test series against Australia in February, and the series could include South African receiver Van der Dawson, which casts doubt on their full availability.

Sources said that the teams may also add partially available strong players to the squad as supplementary or replacement.
