Quaid-i-Azam Games Punjab Open inter division badminton 6-9th January ended at Nishter Park hall, Lahore. Rawalpindi shuttler finished at silver against Gujranwala who bagged gold in the boy’s team event.
Earlier in Semi Finals Rawalpindi defeated Sahiwal 3-1 and Gujranwala to Bahawalpur by 3-0 to place a berth for final.
Fight to be on top in Punjab, Rawalpindi could win the maiden first single of best of five match when Aashan Tanweer (RWP) struggled for his success over Yasir Ali (GUJ) in a three set fight with the points 21-17, 15-21 & 21-16.
Further the strong side of Gujranwala did not allow Rawalpindi boys to overcome at any stage of the tie matches first double, second single and third double matches respectively and won all these in a row finishing the encounter in their favor for gold with 3-1.
The results of the last three games remained as in doubles Rohan pairing with Rohail (GUJ) beat Ahmed Janjua pairing with Aamir Waqas 21-12 and 21-16, in single Abuzar Bhatti (GUJ) beat Shayan Tanweer (RWP) 21-14, 21-15 and in the final double Yassir Ali & Abuzar Bhatti (GUJ) finished the match defeating Aashan & Shayan 21-5, 21-16.
