Karachi: Mussarrat Hussain Memorial 7a Side Junior Hockey Championship started in Olympian Islahuddin and Dr Muhammad Ali Shah Hockey Academy North Nazimabad. Olympian Qamar Ibrahim inaugurated the event. Olympian islahudin, Ayaz mehmood, Sameer Hussain, Abbas Haider, Kashif Jawad, former International Mubashir Mukhtar, Saghir Hussain, Asad Zaheer, Tariq Khan, Syed Alay Hassan, Junaid Aslam and others were also present. On the first day, in the girls’ event, Begum Benazir Bhutto7ers defeated Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan by 2-1. Ayesha Azam and Samama Siddiqui scored one goal each for the winning team. For the loser The only goal was scored by team captain Sehrish Khan, while Ayesha Asad showed excellent play.
In the boys competition, the match between the teams of Olympian Kamran Ashraf and Olympian Qamar Ibrahim 7ers ended in a goalless draw. And 2nd match Sameer Husaain7ers beat Ayaz mehmood by 4-2 Mohammad Bilawal, Ali Abbas, Syed Ahmed Ali and Mohammad Issa scored one goal each while Waqas and Farzak scored one goal each for the losing team.
Twelve teams of girls and boys are participating in the championship. Six teams of boys have been named after Olympian Ayaz Mahmood, Olympian Qamar Ibrahim, Olympian Kamran Ashraf, Olympian Sameer Hussain, Olympian Kashif Jawad and Olympian Abbas Haider.
The six teams are named after Begum Fatima Jinnah, Begum Rana Liaquat Ali Khan, Begum Salma Tassaduq Hussain, Begum Jahan Ara Shahnawaz, Begum Shaista Ikram and Begum Benazir Bhutto.
