Other journalists too should follow footsteps of Amjad Aziz Malik: ‘Flying horse’, Samiullah

KARACHI: The 15th & 16th book of Amjad Aziz Malik, secretary, Pakistan Sports Writers Federation and the AIPS Asia has been unveiled at a ceremony, organised by Sports Journalists Association of Sindh (SJAS) in collaboration with the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday. The book titled “Safar Nama” & “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Cricket” encircled the last 70 years’ history of the province and the stars & cricket administrators emerged from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Addressing the attendees, the hockey Olympian, Samiullah said that writing a book, despite a pressed schedule, is a tough ask for a journalist however Amjad Aziz Malik has done a remarkable job by penning not one or two but 16 books, other journalists should also follow his footsteps and compile their experiences, Samiullah added.
Senior sports journalists Abdul Majid Bhatti, Ehsan Qureshi, Syed Mohammad Soofi, Iqbal Jameel, in their brief addresses, lauded Amjad Aziz Malik for encircling cricketers and administrators from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in his book. They opined that Amjad acts as torchbearer for young journalists.
SJAS’ patron Khwaja Ahmed Mustaqeem, on the occasion, said that sports journalism is a hard-pressed profession and the role of sports journalists is imperative in projecting the peaceful image of the country. Khwaja Ahmed Mustaqeem praised Amjad Aziz Malik, saying that he has been continuously penning his experiences in the form of books and the latest edition “Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Cricket ” preserved the history of KP Cricket forever.
The author Amjad Aziz Malik was off the opinion that writing books is aimed at enticing young journalists towards compiling their career experiences. He said that a lot of cricketers from KP have made it to the top level and exhibited their metal. He also applauded SJAS as the most vibrant sports journalists association in the country. Amjad Aziz Malik added that SJAS is an integral part of the Pakistan Sports Writers Federation.
In the end the president of SJAS, Muhammad Asif Khan thanked the attendees and applauded Amjad Aziz Malik for compiling the data of the KP cricket figures.
Executive member of SJAS and renowned hockey commentator, Riazuddin acted as the host of the ceremony.
