Uncivilized Pakistani shuttler Mahoor Shahzad blasted on “Pathans” after her second consecutive defeat in initial rounds which threw her out of the Olympic race.
In a video message from Japan she blamed that “Pathans” are jealous on her selection in Tokyo Olympics. Her xenophobic statement from Tokyo about particular peoples of the country is against the national code of conduct issued by the Government of Pakistan for any person who represents the country at international. It is also against the directions of Pakistan Sports Board for players who take part in any international event. Further it is the responsibility of the chef de mission to keep in control all the members of the delegation as he is the leader on spot.
It is important to mention that in Tokyo the Secretary, Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) Wajid Ali who is accompanying her as the badminton coach but he also did not stop Mahoor for such a racist statement which clearly damaged the soft sport image of Pakistan at global.
Pakistan is not facing language conflicts especially when Salam Gul the General Secretary Peshawar District Badminton Association did announce one million rupees for her on the best performance only in a match. Everyone knows about her inclusion in the national squad for Olympics on IOC tripartite commission invitation on women rights.
Further all over the country, it is also acknowledged that she was not trained by PBF for such a high level event and no one was expecting any medal from her. Even then nation was encouraging her being the first Olympian but her attitude proved her to an immature and non-professional player.

It is very important to mention that the Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) was also well aware about the Mahoor’s performance in the first round as per schedule announced and the authorities did already set a mind with no win at any single match therefore POA had booked her return flight to Pakistan with Wajid Ali on 28th July before travelling to Olympics. This clearly shows that badminton player and coach were on joy riding trip.
Sports and badminton community of the country is expressing deep anger on Mahoor’s pity statement which caused an irritation among the peoples of a province Khyber Pakhtunkhaw of the country and demanded from Ministry of IPC, Pakistan Sports Board, POA and her department WAPDA to take immediate action with some penalty. It is important to nip evil in the bud to stop such happenings in future.
