PESHAWAR, Jan 19 :- The 6th National Tour de Gwadar Road Cycle Championship will be commencing from January 31 to February 3, 2022, President Pakistan Cycling Federation and former international cyclists syed Azhar Ali Shah told here to press on Wednesday.The aim and objective of the Race is to highlight Gwadar as a key port city, situated on the southwestern coast of Balochistan, Pakistan. The city is located on the shores of the Arabian Sea opposite Oman, Syed Azhar Ali Shah said 6th National cycling championship is a test case as far as holding international cycling races on the same route wherein teams from South Asian Countries would participate. It is the 100th largest city of Pakistan, according to a 2017 census.
It was an overseas possession of Oman from 1783 to 1958 and is about 120 km (75 mi) southwest of Turbat, while the sister port city of Chabahar in Iran’s Sistan and Baluchestan Province is about 170 km (110 mi) to the west of Gwadar.He disclosed that the strategic value of its location was first recognized in 1954 when it was identified as a suitable site for a deep water port by the United States Geological Survey at the request of Pakistan while the territory was still under Omani rule.Accompanied by President KP Cycling Association, Nisar Ahmad, Syed Azhar Ali Shah said that Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Cycling Association also announces teams for the National Cycling Championship at Gwadar Port City.When asked about the team, Nisar Ahmad said thay 29 players from Peshawar, Mardan, Malakand and Bannu divisions participated.
The selection committee included Sarmad Shabab, Murad Ali, Tahir Shah, Ahmed Zeb and Nosheen Khan.Nisar Ahamd said that 42km time trials for both male and female cyclists took part wherein the Men’s team includes Mohsin Khan, Farman Mohammad, Imran, Umar Farooq, Sajid Ali Khan, Babar Ali Jr. and Syedullah have been selected while the Women team comprising Nazia Khan, Faryal Aman, Noorul Ain, Malaika Shahid, Sonia, Samreen, Zalikha and Saba Khan were short-listed. Murad Ali, Ahmed Zeb and Nosheen will act as officials of the team. He said the 10-day training camp has been set up for the women’s team. Murad Ali and Nosheen are acting as camp commandants he said
