The World Shooting Para Sport (WSPS) season will return to South Korea for the first time since the 2018 World Championships when Changwon hosts its first-ever World Cup from 15 to 26 August 2022.
The event marks the first multi-year hosting agreement signed for World Shooting Para Sport as the Changwon World Cup will be part of the competition season through to 2025.
The Changwon International Shooting Range is a legacy venue of the 2018 International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF) World Championships which saw more than one thousand athletes competing in 59 events.
South Korea is one of the most successful shooting Para sport nations placing second in the all-time Paralympic Games medal standings with 57 podium finishes including 23 golds.
The country also hosted two WSPS World Championships in Seoul 2002 and Cheongju 2018.
“We are extremely pleased to announce the Changwon World Cup as our first multi-year hosting agreement,” said Tyler Anderson, WSPS Senior Manager.
“The World Cup represents a stable competition in Asia and a return to one of our strongest shooting Para sport countries. We would like to thank the Korean Shooting Federation for the Disabled (KSFD) for their invaluable support and we look forward to welcoming the world’s best to the Changwon International Shooting Range in August.”
The 2022 World Cup season will kick off in Chateauroux, France in June followed by the Munich 2022 World Cup in Germany in July.
Al Ain, United Arab Emirates will host the 2022 World Championships in November.
