Today’s early birds witnessed something that you don’t often see: two world race walking golds at the same championships, achieved by Kimberly Garcia Leon. The 4x100m qualifications had the whole stadium on edge, and saw USA come out on top in the women’s and men’s events, while Kelsey-Lee Barber became the first woman to win back-to-back world javelin titles.Shauna Miller-Uibo claimed her first world 400m title, while Michael Norman took gold on home soil in the men’s 400m. The day concluded with an unforgettable world 400m hurdles record of 50.68 by Sydney McLaughlin.
