Historic Football Ground in Peshawar Converted to Vegetable Farm and Chicken Coops
Peshawar , The District Sports Office in Peshawar has turned a historic football ground into a vegetable farm and chicken coop, raising concerns among locals and sports enthusiasts. Instead of maintaining the grounds for athletic use, financial staff of the office have been planting vegetables, including tomatoes, spinach, onions, and mint, for the past several months.
While some vegetables have fully grown, it remains unclear whether they will be used by the employees residing in the area, sold in nearby markets, or utilized in the District Sports Office or Regional Sports Office in Peshawar.
The chicken coop, located outside the gate opening towards the Shahi Bagh, further highlights the conversion of the football ground into a residential colony.
Many locals are disappointed with the District Sports Office’s decision to prioritize agriculture and housing over sports and recreational activities.
The historic football ground, which has been a symbol of the city’s sporting spirit for decades, is now unrecognizable and unusable for its original purpose.
This move has sparked a debate among the residents of Peshawar, who are now questioning the priorities of the District Sports Office and the government’s overall commitment to promoting physical activity and sports culture in the city.
