GS OF INTERNATIONAL JUDO FEDERATION (IJF) ELECTIONS- PAK SUPPORTED CANDIDATE WON PSOT OF SECRETARY GENERAL & TREASURER
General Secretary and Treasurer of IJF Elections for the term of 2023-2027 were held on yesterday in Doha, Qatar. Mr Masood Ahmed Vice President Pakistan Judo Federation (PJF), Head of Education, Coaching & Kata Commission South Asian Judo Federation and member of IJF & JUA Commission, represented Pakistan in congress as invited by IJF. President PJF Col Junaid could not attend that due to his official commitments and hence Mr Masood replaced him, at last moment.
Pak supported candidate from British Judo Dr. Lisa Allen was elected as General Secretary wheres Mr Nasser Al Tamimi (UAE) as Treasurer.
Linchpin of the operation of the IJF for many years, Lisa Allan was, before becoming IJF Events Director and now General Secretary, the Competition Manager of the London 2012 Games. With vast experience, she takes over from Jean-Luc Rougé, in a smooth transfer of role.
Masood congratulated Lisa Allen after her elections. In response she also congratulated PJF officials (President & Vice President) for winning honorable posts at South Asian & Asian level in recent Regional and continental elections conducted in Kuwait. Lisa also promised to extend full support to Pakistan Judo in her tenure.
At the end the validation of the official entry of Mr Vlad Marinescu, IJF Director General, into the Executive Committee, was also approved by the Congress.
Mr Masood also had meeting with Chair Athletes Commission, an Climate Ambassador of IJF Ex-Austrian Female Olympic Judoka Sabrina Filzmoser who promised to come to Pakistan for undergoing Judo for Peace Project and assist in selection of probables for one of the affiliated unit of PJF domestic club project named Takbeer Club.
PJF has now cordial as well personal relations with almost all top hierachy of International Judo Federation and Asian Judo Federation. After the recent election of Col Junaid as President South Asian Judo Federation and Vice President Judo Union of Asia, and Director Military & Police Commission this would be the ideal time for Pakistan to focus in this top medal offering Olympic sport without being distracted from political rivalries.
