PHF Official Denounces Nasir Ali’s Allegations as Self-serving and Untimely
Peshawar – In response to Nasir Ali’s recent allegations against the Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF), Syed Zahir Shah, the Associate Secretary of the federation, expressed deep regret and labeled the statement as regrettable and self-serving. Shah highlighted that after a span of 41 years, Nasir Ali has chosen to make these claims for his own interests, coinciding with a challenging period for the PHF.
Shah went on to assert that Nasir Ali’s credibility is questionable, particularly considering his involvement in the election held in bus stop, Islamabad, where he allegedly conducted the election with fake teams, removing the legitimate ones in an underhanded manner. Shah pointed out that this case is currently under investigation, advising Nasir Ali to address any concerns he may have with the Prime Minister instead of defaming renowned hockey legends such as Akhtar Rasool, Shahnaz Sheikh, and Islahuddin Siddiqui.
Refuting the allegations made by Nasir Ali against the committee, Shah questioned why he had not disclosed his claims of match-fixing involving Shahnaz Sheikh at the time when it allegedly occurred. Shah questioned the validity of Nasir Ali’s accusations, urging him to provide concrete evidence or retract his statements, as they cast a shadow on the PHF’s integrity. Shah also reminded Nasir Ali of his previous involvement in a case related to human trafficking, where he had hastily accused someone at a police station without substantial proof, further raising doubts about his credibility.
Regarding the 1981 accusations against Akhtar Rasool, Shah rejected Nasir Ali’s claims and questioned the motive behind raising these allegations after four decades. Emphasizing Nasir Ali’s self-interest, Shah called for legal action against him and challenged him to produce evidence to support his claims. Shah concluded by urging Nasir Ali to approach the Prime Minister if he had any objections to the committee, rather than resorting to baseless allegations. Shah highlighted the ongoing court case against Nasir Ali in the Civil Court of Islamabad related to the election he conducted, as well as allegations of bribery during a match between the Army and Navy.
In a direct address to Nasir Ali. He emphasized that Nasir Ali’s statements do not represent the PHF and should be considered his personal opinion, calling for the federation to take notice of this matter. Shah further criticized Nasir Ali’s lack of knowledge about the rules and his sudden recollection of events after a substantial time lapse.
