Hockey Provincial League Closing Ceremony Concludes under Prime Minister’s Youth Programme
The closing ceremony of Boys and Girls Hockey Provincial League under Prime Minister’s Youth Programme was held at Islamia College Astroturf Hockey Ground, Peshawar. The chief guest of the closing ceremony was Attaullah Tarrar, Special Assistant to Prime Minister while Mr. Akhtar Wali, Former Member Provincial Assembly was the Guest of Honour.
Hockey trials were organized in five districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa before commencing Provincial League. In the boys’ provincial league, Peshawar stood first, Bannu got second and Swat attained third position. Likewise, in the girls’ provincial league, the Mardan team won the first position, while the Peshawar and Hazara teams won the second and third positions respectively.
Talking to the young players on this occasion, the Chief Guest said that at present there is a comparison in between the incidents of May 28 and May 9; May 28 is very revered for every patriot. He said that the Programme was started in 2013 by former Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, who will return to the country very soon. Encouraging the young players, he said that the present government’s motto is to provide the best facilities to the youth, just as our government distributed laptops to the youth in the past; similarly, the provision of laptops should be ensured in this era as well.
Mr. Akhtar Wali said that he is thankful to Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja who has initiated a youth-centric programme for the youth. “Investing in youth is top priority of the Government of Pakistan”, concludes Former Member Provincial Assembly.
