Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Aims to Bring International Coaches for Player Training, States DG Sports Khalid Mahmood
Peshawar – A special ceremony was held at the Sports Directorate of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to honor the athletes who achieved medals at the recently concluded 34th National Games.
The event was organized by renowned international athlete and Asian record holder, Rasad Iqbal, to acknowledge the contribution of Asad Iqbal Academy in providing training to these exceptional athletes.
The athletes who participated in the National Games and received fitness training at Asad Iqbal Academy were recognized during the ceremony. Among the distinguished medalists were Nasir Iqbal in Squash, Murad Ali and Shoaib Riyaz in Badminton, Sabir Shah in Judo, Arooj Kiran in Athletics, and Nawaz Ahmed, Zohaib Khan, and Ahmed in Athletics, who secured silver medals.
During the event, DG Sports Khalid Mahmood expressed his commitment to supporting all players and announced plans to bring international coaches to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to enhance the training programs for athletes. He emphasized the importance of providing comprehensive training sessions for the coaches to equip them with new techniques and skills.
The ceremony was attended by notable figures in the sports community, including Administrator Peshawar Sports Complex and Chief Coach Jafar Shah, Imran Khan Assistant Director of Operations, Abed Afridi Senior Coach, Aamir Iqbal, Nadeem Khan, and Hayatullah, who will assume the role of RSOs (Regional Sports Officers).
The presence of Abbas Afridi, a prominent player from the Pakistan Super League (PSL), added further significance to the event.
