Construction Delayed at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium due to Lack of Funds, Controversial Appointments Continue
Peshawar, Pakistan – The construction of Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium, the sole cricket ground in Peshawar city, remains incomplete as funds are unavailable, with anticipated completion by the end of the next fiscal year. Meanwhile, the sports directorate persists in appointing individuals based on personal preference, despite their limited experience in computer skills. These appointments not only involve illegal promotions but also crucial positions within the organization.
Sources indicate that the lack of funds has halted construction activities at Arbab Niaz Cricket Stadium, hindering the completion of the lighting system. The continuous rise in costs adds to the challenge, particularly for the installation of international-quality color lights, currently exclusive to Dubai Stadium. Unfortunately, due to the unavailability of funds, this installation has been put on hold. Meanwhile, the sports directorate proceeds with appointments favoring specific individuals.
The delay in construction progress and the prioritization of questionable appointments raise concerns about financial management and transparency within the sports sector. It is crucial that appropriate measures are taken to address these issues and ensure accountability.
