Video of Torture on International Footballer Naeemullah Wazir Goes Viral
Peshawar—A distressing video showing the torture of Naeemullah Wazir, an internationally recognized footballer from Wana, has gone viral. In light of this incident, a case has been filed in the high Court, highlighting the recruitment of individuals based on fake documents and Naeemullah Wazir’s ordeal.
The attack on Naeemullah Wazir, who hails from South Waziristan and is an esteemed football player, took place outside the mosque near the Provincial Sports Directorate. The incident occurred yesterday when Naeemullah visited the Minister of Sports Directorate, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
He has already challenged the use of forged documents in the former FATA Sports Directorate, and his case is currently being heard in the Peshawar High Court. Fortunately, officials from the sports directorate intervened and saved Naeemullah Wazir from further harm.
Following the assault on the football coach, who also runs a football academy in South Waziristan, the Gulberg police station promptly arrived at the scene to initiate an investigation. Upon the request, Naeemullah Wazir was transferred to Lady Reading Hospital in Peshawar, where his condition is being monitored and updates are being provided regularly. Naeemullah Wazir has identified the three individuals who subjected him to torture and has included their names in his First Information Report (FIR).
The circulation of the video depicting the violence against Naeemullah Wazir outside the mosque of the Provincial Sports Directorate has sparked outrage among former assembly members from North and South Waziristan, as well as individuals associated with sports. Strongly condemning the incident and expressing deep sorrow, they have called for swift action against the perpetrators. Demands have been made for immediate attention to this case.
