Karachi Men & Women Teams Stood Tall in Sindh Provincial League under Prime Minister’s Youth Programme
It is a Matter of Pride to Host Sindh Volleyball Provincial League Says, Vice Chancellor NED University
Karachi (PR): Under Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the Closing Ceremony of the Sindh Volleyball Provincial League was held at NED University of Engineering & Technology, Karachi. Prof. Dr. Sarosh Lodi was the Chief Guest whereas Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmed Sheikh, Sukkur IBA Vice Chancellor and Mr. Javed Ali Memon, Director Sports, Higher Education Commission, Pakistan (HEC) were the Guests of Honor.
In the League, Karachi men and women teams took the 1st position while the men teams of Sukkur and Larkana were ranked 2nd and 3rd respectively. Likewise, the women teams from Hyderabad and Larkana won the 2nd and 3rd positions.
Mr. Javed Ali Memon said that sports events are being organized across the country under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, in this regard, Sindh Volleyball Provincial League was organized at NED University, Karachi. He said that Special Assistant to Prime Minister on Youth Affairs Ms. Shaza Fatima Khawaja and Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed, Chairman HEC are monitoring the Talent Hunt activities. He maintained that under the patronage of the Government of Pakistan, we are promoting the culture of participating in sports in the country.
He said that there is no need for any recommendation in the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme, the aspiring players who will outperform others well will be given an opportunity to play in the National League. In the National League, the best players of the five participating teams in the provincial league will participate. He reiterated his commitment that the youth will be trained by qualified coaches so that their talent can be further polished.
Prof. Dr. Asif Ahmad Sheikh said that the youth are the Pakistan of today and tomorrow, the youth must be provided with opportunities to get education and facilities to play in sports fields.
The Chief Guest thanked Mr. Javed Ali Memon for handing over the hosting of the provincial league under the Prime Minister’s Youth Programme to NED University, Karachi and said that organizing the Sindh Volleyball Provincial League is a matter of pride for the Institution. He said that before the Volleyball Provincial League, volleyball trials were conducted in remote areas of Sindh province including Hyderabad, Sukkur, Shaheed Benazirabad and Larkana and the volleyball league is successfully conducted between the teams of five districts consisting of the best players.
Prof. Dr. Sarosh Lodi congratulated the winning teams. He advised the 2nd and 3rd placed teams that the game teaches us to be consistent in our hard work and accept our defeat with patience and harmony. He said that our institution is playing an important role in providing education as well as promoting sports. Through patronage of HEC, NED University will conduct more sports competitions, Vice Chancellor concluded.
