Asian Hockey Umpire Faiz Ahmed Faizi Visits Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium in Peshawar

Peshawar… Faiz Ahmed Faizi, the Chairman of the Umpiring Committee of the Asian Hockey Federation and a member of the FIH Umpiring Committee, paid a visit to the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium in Peshawar. He had recently returned from a trip to Sri Lanka.

At Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium, Faiz Ahmed Faizi was warmly welcomed by Syed Zahir Shah, the President of the Provincial Hockey Association, and Hidayatullah, the Secretary. They introduced him to the hockey players who were attending training sessions at the ground.

Expressing his connection to Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium, the ground of his hometown, Faiz Ahmed Faizi, the Chairman of the Asian Hockey Federation Umpiring Committee, mentioned that he had played hockey on this ground and had participated in numerous matches here. During his visit to Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium in Peshawar, he shared these sentiments with journalists.

Hailing from Peshawar, Faiz Ahmed Faizi is also a member of umpiring committee of the Federation of International Hockey. He encouraged the hockey players to focus on their game and strive hard. He emphasized that the current facilities available to the players were beyond what they could have imagined during their playing days.
Expressing his pride in coaching and training, Faiz Ahmed Faizi stated his willingness to train coaches and umpires at his home ground. He announced that a series of coaching and training sessions for hockey umpiring would commence soon.

Syed Zahir Shah, the President of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Hockey Association, expressed his delight over the presence of international hockey umpire Faiz Ahmed Faizi in Peshawar. He informed journalists about a coaching program that had been organized for the province’s coaches. Asif Islam, an international hockey coach, would act as the coordinator for these coaching courses, scheduled to start after Muharram, around August 1 or 2.
The coaching sessions would take place in the morning, with on-ground practice in the evenings. The sessions would focus on umpiring techniques and the umpire’s interaction with the players. Deputy Director of Sports, Waqas from HEC, would oversee the training sessions, and all players would be invited to participate.

Following the three-day training session held at the divisional headquarters and district, Faiz Ahmed Faizi would conduct training and select talented umpires through regular assessments to form a pool of umpiring talent from across KP.
