Serious Challenges Arise in Merger of Provincial Sports Directorate and Merged Districts
In a late-night meeting last week, directors of the Provincial Sports Directorate and sports directors from the merged districts came together to discuss various issues related to the merger. However, a decision is yet to be reached as problems continue to escalate.
One major concern is the status of project employees in the annexed districts, many of whom were recruited based on recommendations or political affiliations. Due to recent legislation passed by the Provincial Assembly, these employees have now become permanent, adding complexity to the merger process.
Another significant issue arises from the presence of commissioned officers and statutory officers. A dispute over seniority between them has surfaced, with the law stipulating that commissioned officers in the sports directorate should have higher seniority. Yet, certain individuals from the merged districts are allegedly using their connections to secure favorable positions.
The situation becomes more complicated as the sports directorate has four separate wings, each with its own leadership. This merger has the potential to affect the seniority of all wings, causing concerns about legal battles in the future.
