Aaron Finch’s Unbeaten 63 Goes in Vain as Morrisville Unity Go to the Top of Table
Lauderhill, Florida, 22 August, 2023: The Morrisville Unity picked up their second win of the US Masters T10 League after defeating California Knights by seven wickets at Central Broward Regional Park Stadium Turf Ground, Lauderhill, Florida on Tuesday. The Unity side restricted the Knights to 100/4 before chasing down their target with seven balls to spare.
Chris Gayle got himself going with a boundary and a six, the latter off Ashley Nurse’s bowling. However, the spinner trapped the Universe Boss LBW in the third over of the chase. Parthiv Patel also contributed with a couple of boundaries before departing for 14 runs off 9 balls.
Thereafter, Obus Pienaar and Corey Anderson joined hands to make short work of the chase as Unity reached their target with more than an over to spare, which will also strengthen their net run rate going forward.
Earlier in the day, it was the Unity team who won the toss and asked the California Knights to bat first. Aaron Finch scored 63 runs off 30 balls, but he didn’t find much support from the other end. The Knights kept picking up wickets at regular intervals.
Obus Pienaar was the star bowler for the Morrisville Unity as he picked up excellent figures of 3/13. He dismissed Jacques Kallis, Milind Kumar and Suresh Raina.
Brief Scores: Morrisville Unity’s 102/3 (Shehan Jayasuriya 27, Obus Pienaar 23, Ricardo Powell 1/3) beat California Knights 100/4 (Aaron Finch 63*, Obus Pienaar 3/13) by 7 wickets.
