Persistent Electricity Issues at Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium Hamper Water Supply, Jeopardizing Turf Survival

The long-standing electricity predicament surrounding the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium, situated within the Peshawar Sports Complex, remains unresolved, causing substantial difficulties. The crux of the issue lies in inadequate voltage supply, rendering simultaneous operation of all sprinkler systems impossible. Consequently, comprehensive coverage with water across all areas becomes an unattainable feat.
The recently appointed contractor undertook efforts to address the challenge by installing two water supply machines to serve a total of ten sprinklers. Regrettably, even with this intervention, two sprinklers continue to exhibit malfunction.
The timely and consistent provision of water is imperative for nurturing the nascent turf. However, in this instance, accountability rests with the Provincial Sports Directorate due to its inability to rectify the situation.
The underlying cause of the voltage problem is the distribution of power through a shared wire to multiple
locations, encompassing the swimming pool and the arena hall. This arrangement obstructs efficient water distribution to all electrically operated water machines, allowing only one machine to function effectively.
Subsequently, water exclusively reaches the designated sprinklers.
Over the past years, the stadium has relied on a solitary water machine, leaving certain sections of the turf parched and undernourished. In light of these concerns, the contractor recently inspected the grounds and gathered
information to strategize potential solutions. Nevertheless, the Provincial Sports Directorate is yet to exhibit tangible progress in this matter, prolonging the persistent issue.
The vitality of the Lala Ayub Hockey Stadium’s turf hinges on a collaborative effort to surmount the ongoing electricity obstacle. Swift and effective action from the concerned authorities is imperative to ensure optimal water supply and the overall health of the stadium’s playing surface.
