New Committee Formed by Pakistan Boxing Federation for Elections in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Says Secretary Khizr Hayat
In a recent statement to journalists in Peshawar, Khizr Hayat, the Secretary of the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Boxing Association, revealed that the Pakistan Boxing Federation has established a fresh committee to oversee the election process in the province. The committee is poised to initiate the election and scrutiny procedures in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa shortly.
Hayat explained that they have been diligently engaged in scrutinizing club memberships and boxers for the past week. Following the completion of this process, they will proceed with the election. Notably, today marks the departure of boxing teams, with the unique occurrence of two teams representing Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
Approximately two hundred athletes participated in the trials, raising hopes that these under-16 boxers will shine for the province. Hayat expressed concern over the condition of the boxers who attended the event, highlighting their lack of essential equipment such as gloves. To address this issue, they plan to collaborate with the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Olympic Association, Syed Aqil Shah, and Zulfikar Butt to not only provide equipment but also boxing rings.
Hayat further disclosed that while each division once had boxing rings, an inter-club event in Hazara has shed light on the scarcity of boxing rings in the region. The people of Hazara have expressed their willingness to rent boxing rings from Peshawar, underscoring the absence of such facilities in Hazara.
Reflecting on the province’s boxing history, Hayat emphasized the achievements of the past, where individuals like Nusratullah Khalil, Ajmal, Afzal, and Zahoor held various positions and contributed to the province’s success as a united team. He expressed his commitment to nurturing and showcasing talented boxers in the future.
