The 2nd T20 Interloop Wheelchair Cricket Asia Cup 2023 set to begin on October 4
KARACHI : The second T20 Interloop Wheelchair Cricket Asia Cup 2023 will commence on October 4th, 2023, with the opening match between India and Nepal at the TU International Cricket Stadium in Kathmandu, Nepal.
A total of five teams will participate, including host Pakistan, co-host Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, and a total of 11 matches will be played, culminating in the final on October 9th, 2023, at the same venue.
Defending champions Pakistan, led by Muhammad Zeeshan, will depart for Dubai via Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 2nd, and they will begin their campaign against Nepal on October 5th.
The national squad comprises 18 players, accompanied by Coach Masood Afridi, team manager Zawar Noor Khan, and Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council President Rookhsana Rajpoot.
Initially, Pakistan was supposed to host the Asia Cup but shifted the event to Nepal as a neutral venue due to the current scenario in Pak-Indo relations. The generous support of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made it possible to organize the Asia Cup at a neutral venue.
Colourful opening and closing ceremonies will also be a part of this mega event. All participating teams will arrive in Kathmandu, Nepal, on October 3rd, 2023, for a press meet involving all the team captains and the heads of their associations. Pakistan will defend their title in this Asia Cup.
All the matches will be broadcast live on Action Sports Nepal, with live streaming available on the official YouTube channels of the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council and the International Council of Wheelchair Cricket (ICWC).
Physically Challenged Cricket Association Nepal & NDSO will be the supporting partner and co-host of this event. Many renowned artists will perform cultural shows at the opening and closing ceremonies.
