Pakistan wheelchair cricket team reached Kathmandu, Nepal to participate in Asia Cup 2023
Pakistan wheelchair cricket team has reached Kathmandu to participating in Asia Cup 2023 on Monday. The Green Shirt led captain Mohammad Zeeshan departed Karachi for Dubai Kathmandu on Monday morning.
The national team consist of a 15-member squad, coach Masood Afridi, team manager Zawar Noor Khan, and President of Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council Rookhsana Rajpoot. All the teams will reach Nepal on Tuesday.
Captains will hold a press conference before the event. The second T20 Wheelchair Cricket Asia Cup 2023 will begin with a colorful opening ceremony. The opening match between Nepal and Bangladesh will be played at Tribhuvan University Cricket Stadium, Kathmandu. Defending champion Pakistan will start their campaign against Nepal on Thursday.
Five teams will participate, including host Pakistan, co-host Nepal, India, Bangladesh, and Sri Lanka, and a total of 11 matches will be played. Final match will be played on October 9th, 2023. All the matches will be broadcast live on Action Sports Nepal, with live streaming available on the official YouTube channels of the Pakistan Wheelchair Cricket Council and the International Council of Wheelchair Cricket (ICWC).
Initially, Pakistan was supposed to host the Asia Cup but shifted the event to Nepal as a neutral venue due to the current situatuion in Pak-Indo relations. The generous support of the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) made it possible to conduct the Asia Cup at a neutral venue. Physically Challenged Cricket Association Nepal & NDSO will be supporting partner and co-host of this event. Many renowned artists will perform cultural shows at the opening and closing ceremonies.
