District Sports Officers Discuss Revenue and Coaching Issues in Provincial Meeting
By Musarrat Ullah Jan
The meeting of District Sports Officers from across the province convened at the Provincial Sports Directorate, with Director General Sports Khalid Mehmood presiding over the discussions. The gathering addressed crucial topics related to revenue generation within various sports complexes and player memberships.
During the meeting, it was emphasized that all regular fees from sports complex members should be diligently collected, and strategies should be devised to boost revenue. District sports officers pledged their unwavering support for these initiatives.
Notably absent from the agenda was any discussion regarding the availability of diverse sports activities in the complexes or the shortage of coaches. In the first meeting of its kind in six months, initiated by the Director General of the Provincial Sports Directorate, DG Sports underscored the importance of enhancing revenue, particularly at the Dera Ismail Khan Sports Complex.
Surprisingly, the lack of coaches across the province’s sports complexes remained unaddressed, with none of the district sports officers or administrators raising this issue during the meeting. It appears that the declining revenue in these complexes due to the absence of coaches was not brought to the DG’s attention.
This situation raises concerns about how athletes will acquire and refine their techniques without proper coaching. Alarmingly, approximately 294 daily wage coaches have been laid off in various sports complexes throughout the province, leaving players to practice on empty fields. The absence of qualified coaches to impart fundamental sports techniques remains a critical challenge.
