World Cup: Australia beat defending champions England by 33 runs

In the 36th match of the ongoing ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 in India, Australia defeated England by 33 runs and achieved the fifth victory in the event.

In the match played at the Narendra Modi Cricket Stadium in the Indian city of Ahmedabad, the Australian team scored 286 runs in 49.3 overs while batting first. Chasing a target of 287 runs, the English team was bowled out for 253 runs in the 49th over.

Ben Stokes played the highest innings for England with 64 runs while David Mullan scored 50 runs, Moeen Ali scored 42 runs, Chris Woakes scored 32 runs and David Valley scored 15 runs.

Adam Zampa took the most 3 wickets for Australia while Mitchell Starc, Josh Hazlewood and Pat Cummins managed to get two wickets each.

On behalf of Australia, Marinus Labuchin played the highest innings of 71 runs, Cameron Green was the second leading batsman by scoring 47 runs, while Steve Smith scored 44 runs and Marcus Stoins scored 35 runs.

Chris Woakes managed to dismiss 4 players while Mark Wood and Adil Rashid took 2 wickets each for England.
