In the 40th match of the World Cup, England defeated the Netherlands by 160 runs. With this victory, England paved the way for the qualification of Champions Trophy 2025. Pakistan’s last match is against England on November 11.
Chasing England’s target of 340 runs in the match played in Pune, the Netherlands team was bowled out for 179 runs in the 38th over. Teja Ndamanuru played an unbeaten innings of 41 runs as the Netherlands chased down the target. Captain Scott Edwards scored 38, opener Wesley Bracey played an innings of 37 runs. Moeen Ali and Adil Rashid took three wickets each for England.
David Wiley dismissed two while Chris Woakes dismissed one. Earlier, England won the toss and decided to bat first against the Netherlands. England’s Jonny Bairstow and David Mullan started the innings cautiously,
but Bairstow, who scored 17 runs for 48 in the seventh over, got out. On the second wicket, David Mullan and Joe Root took the team’s total to 133 runs where Root got out after scoring 28 runs.

Moeen Ali returned to the pavilion by scoring 4 runs. However, a partnership of 113 runs between Chris Woakes and Ben Stokes for the seventh wicket changed the map of the innings. Woakes was bowled out for 321 after scoring 51 runs. Ben Stokes played an innings of 108 runs off 84 balls which included 6 fours and as many sixes.
England scored 339 runs for the loss of 9 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. On behalf of the Netherlands, Boss de Lede dismissed 3 players while Aryan Dutt and Logan van Beek took two wickets each and Paul van McKeern took one wicket. England’s Ben Stokes was adjudged the man of the match for his brilliant century. It should be noted that with this victory, England’s hopes of qualifying for Champions Trophy 2025 increased.
