Pakistan Hockey Federation has completed preparations to host the hockey event of the South Asian Games.
In a significant development for the upcoming South Asian Games, the Pakistan Hockey Federation has formally apprised the Pakistan Olympic Association of its preparations. The prestigious event is set to feature seven teams, both men’s and women’s, with the National Hockey Stadium in Lahore proposed as the venue.
Haider Hussain, the Secretary-General Pakistan Hockey Federation provided a comprehensive briefing during a meeting chaired by President POA, Mr. Muhammad Abid Qadri Gillani. The gathering, held under the auspices of Pakistan Olympic Association for the preparations of South Asian Games, focused on the hosting responsibilities for the hockey event.
The assembly witnessed the presence of key figures, including Secretary-General of Pakistan Olympic Association, Khalid Mahmood, and officials from various national sports federations. Among them were Khalid Bashir (Secretary-General, Pakistan Basketball Federation), Haji Muhammad Shafiq (President, Pakistan Handball Federation), Faizi Khawaja (Chairman, Pakistan Rugby Federation), Nasir Ahmed (Director, Pakistan Volleyball Federation), and Muhammad Jahangir (Chairman, Pakistan Karate Federation).
Secretary General PHF Haider Hussain, during the briefing, shed light on the pre arrangements feasibility submitted by the Pakistan Hockey Federation for the successful execution of the hockey event. The meeting also saw the participation of key officials from the Pakistan Olympic Association, including Secretary-General Khalid Mehmood.
In their collaborative efforts, the stakeholders expressed their commitment to making the event a triumph, discussing various recommendations and strategies to ensure the seamless organization of the international competition. Secretary-General PHF Haider Hussain commended the POA’s dedication to fostering the development of players and highlighted the concerted efforts being made to secure Pakistan as the host for international events.
The Pakistan Olympic Association Secretary-General, Khalid Mahmood, commended the proposals put forth by the Pakistan Hockey Federation and other stakeholders. He acknowledged the collective endeavor to elevate the standards of the game and endorsed the aspirations of hosting international events in Pakistan.
